Meta's microblogging platform, Threads, is currently exploring a new feature that gives users the capability to choose their preferred default feed. This update was shared by the company’s CEO through social channels earlier this week. Once implemented, users may have an added option to establish a custom feed as their default, alongside the two already available selections. This enhancement comes in light of a recent change in the algorithm, which aims to display more updates from individuals they follow.

In a recent update on Threads, the CEO of Meta Platforms revealed that this functionality is currently in its testing phase. Users will have the opportunity to choose among the For you, Following, and custom feed options, with the custom choice reflecting specific interests or filters. Additionally, the section for selecting the default feed will be prominently featured in the Threads app's user interface, according to the company leader.

This feature stands as the latest sought-after enhancement for the social media platform and builds upon the custom feeds capability that was recently launched worldwide. Threads allows users to curate a custom feed by searching for certain topics and choosing the Create new feed option. They can expand their feed by adding more topics or profiles by navigating to the appropriate page and selecting the Add to feed option from the menu.

Currently, users can select between the For you, Following, and custom feed by scrolling down the home screen. However, this new feature under testing might soon enable users to set a specific feed as their default.

While the trial of the default feed selection is underway, the comments section beneath the CEO's announcement was inundated with requests for additional features. Among the most frequently mentioned desires were a chronological feed, easier access to comments, and the option to see updates more regularly from those they are connected with.
